Overview

The South Dakota Oral History Center presents audio samples from within the collections of the SDOHC that emphasize Native American history. The SDOHC collects and preserves voices of the people of the Northern Plains. Included in the collection are some 7,000 recordings of interviews, recollections, songs, and other presentations, many of which preserve indigenous memories and experiences from the late nineteenth century to the present. The SDOHC invites you to listen to the kiosk’s recordings, which are intended to illustrate a small slice of the vast diversity of those memories and experiences:
