ILLiad: Navigating ILLiad

How USD students staff and faculty can set up an ILLiad account to order items.

Using Your ILLiad Account

After logging on to ILLiad, here are some of the following options that are available:

  • New Request: Users may choose Article, Book, Book Chapter, Thesis/Dissertation, Music or Movie depending on the material needed.

  • Outstanding Requests: Lists all article and loan requests that are still in process. These requests have not yet been received or cancelled.

  • Electronically Received Articles: Contains all articles delivered to you on the web. They remain on your ILLiad account for 30 days.

  • Checked Out Items: Lists all loans that are currently available and checked out to you. In this section you can check to see renewal availability and request a renewal by clicking on the transaction number of the desired request.

  • History Requests: Lists all of your request activity that has been finished.

Quick Tips

Before submitting a request for an article, check the Journal List, or for a book, check the library catalog to ensure that USD does not own the item.

  • Stop in to the Libraries to speak with a librarian at the Reference Desk on the first floor of the University Libraries, or email, call or chat using Ask a Librarian for help finding articles.

  • For faster processing of requests, enter the complete citation.
