Finding Reference Books and Monographs
To find reference books and monographs, you'll need to use the Library Catalog. If you've already done some library research, you know that the Library Catalog is a database of materials (books, electronic books, journals, and non-book items like videos, microfiche, and sound recordings) that the Library actually owns, i.e., the resources that are physically present in the University Libraries. The Library Catalog does not give access to the contents of books or journals; therefore, you cannot locate chapters, book sections, or articles using the online catalog.
Important: To access articles, use a research database or a print index or bibliography.
See the "Catalog Lessons" (Parts 1-4) for in-depth information on how to use the online catalog.
