What About Web Research?
Since most information on the Web isn't subject to editorial review before it goes up, you need to be critical.
See the Web Evaluation Lesson for how to critically analyze web-based information.
Meanwhile, use the knowledge you've gained in your research to evaluate Web information critically.
Rules of thumb for searching the web:
- Use a reliable search engine (not Yahoo!).
Google (Hint: Using the advanced search function will give you greater control over your Google web search)
Librarian's Index to the Internet http://www.lii.org
Digital Librarian http://www.digital-librarian.com/
- Search reliable web sites: Educational institutions (those with URL domain extensions.edu) are the best source of true, reliable, and verifiable information.
