Finding Subject Terms
The subject search interface has two different search boxes within Academic Search Premier. Do not enter your subject terms in the top search box as that will simply search for your terms within the database contents.
The Subjects Places People box is actually the database's thesaurus, a list of the established search vocabulary for the database. Scroll down to the Browsing: Academic Search Premier search box which is where you would enter in the keyword or phrase that you think might be a subject term used in the database. Notice how we did not put quotation marks around the words school violence as you did when doing phrase searching. Once you click on the Browse button to the right of the search box you will receive the results shown below, that is, the database's terms for your search terms. You could use the subject term school violence or the more specific subject term school violence—law & legislation.
