Scope and Contents

The Gilbert M. Hitchcock papers consist of materials from his tenures in Congress and the Senate.  The collection is organized into two series: Printed Materials and Typescripts

The Printed Materials series contains three items: two Congressional documents containing Resolutions and Reservation on the peace treaty with Germany to end World War I. The third item is an indexed bound book of Hitchcock’s speeches given in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

The Typescript series contains four documents.  The first three are draft documents concerning the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations.  One document is titled Suggestions, The White House Washington.  It has a holographic note of “These are the Wilson revisions.  Copied from long hand of Mrs. Wilson”.  The untitled document seems to be answers to questions about Hitchcock’s relationship with the Omaha World Herald
