Endnote

This guide will lead you through the process of downloading, installing, and setting up Endnote on your computer.

Output Styles – This will allow you to select which style you will use when using your citations.

You can select from one of the styles in the menu OR

You can select “Open Style Manager” to select a different style.

Please note that you can select several styles which will display in the quick menus.

 

VERY IMPORTANT – DO NOT CLICK THE “EDIT” BUTTON (this is feature is for advanced users only).

Output Style Manager – Select your desired filter from the list OR

Search for the filter you want by subject or provider.

You can click on the “Get More on the Web” button to go to the EndNote website to get more styles.

Click the upper “X” to close the editor (make sure it’s the BOTTOM “X” as the TOP “X” will close the program.

 

Import Filters – This function will allow you to add citations to your library which are currently in a file.

Most databases allow a direct import into EndNote, but some will require you to save your citations in a file for manual import.

If you have a file to import, select “Open Filter Manager” to select the appropriate filter.

If you select the wrong filter, there will be no citations added to the database.

The import filter tells EndNote how to translate the information in your file into an EndNote citations.
