Family Life Education and the Temperament Project

Birth to 3 Program services are available to any family who has questions about the development of their child or who have interest in a no-cost developmental screening and/or evaluation.

Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety provides shelter services to women and children who are victims of domestic violence, elder abuse, dating violence, sexual assault, and child abuse & neglect. Services are provided, but are not limited, to the South Dakota counties of Minnehaha, McCook, Lincoln, Turner, and Union.

The Child Safety Seat Distribution Program focuses on keeping children safe by providing child safety seats at no cost to families that meet income eligibility requirements to ensure that they are in the best child seat for their height and weight until they are at least 4'9". At 4'9", most children can safely wear a seat belt.

CHILD Services is committed to enhancing the development, health and safety of children in eastern South Dakota. By partnering with State and local agencies, we provide programs and services to the adults who most impact the lives of children.

The Division of Economic Assistance promotes the wellbeing and provides supports to achieve self-sufficiency of families, children, individuals, elderly and persons with disabilities by providing medical, nutritional and financial services and through assessment and referral to other state, federal and local resources.

The Helpline Center connects individuals to resources and support, providing local agencies volunteers, and offering hope to individuals with thoughts of suicide.

Provides a comprehensive eye assessment for infants between the ages of 6 and 12 months as a no-cost public service.

Programs include Basic Needs, Early Head Start, Head Start, Housing Services, Emergency Services

KIDSIGHT South Dakota is a free statewide vision screening program provided to children ages 12 months and up.

Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), Low-Income Families, Pregnant Women, South Dakota Medicaid for Certain Newborns, Disabled Children's Program, Family Support Services

We distribute toilet paper, laundry detergent, feminine hygiene products, and diapers. Distributions are the first Sunday of each month, doors are open from 3-4pm.

Teaching Adults to Read Since 1986

South Dakota WIC is a public health nutrition program that provides information on healthy eating and breastfeeding, referrals to healthcare and other services, and nutritious foods to supplement diets for income-eligible, women who are pregnant or post-partum, infants and children up to age five.

The Sioux Falls Hope Coalition focuses on narrowing the achievement gap in our community through one simple strategy: Ensuring that every child gets a chance to attend preschool. Supported by business leaders, the United Way, and non-profits, the coalition is seeking to place children, currently on a waiting list for subsidized preschool, into existing high quality faith-based programs.

Connecting families caring for children/youth (ages birth to 26) with the full range of disabilities or special health care needs to information, training and resources in an environment of support, hope and respect.

SDSD employs licensed audiologists who perform no cost diagnostic audiological evaluations for South Dakota children from birth through high school graduation.
