About the American Community Survey

The American Community Survey (ACS) is a nationwide survey implemented in 2005 to replace the decennial census long form.  It is designed to provide communities a fresh look at how they are changing.  Estimates of data on demographic, housing, social and economic characteristics will be available every year instead of once every ten years.   It will provide annual data for states, cities, counties, metropolitan areas, and population groups of 65,000 people or more.
