USD Information Literacy Lessons: Page 1

The broad focus of these lessons is understanding sources of information, including examples that can help you learn how to access information sources at USD. Each lesson is dedicated to a specific element of information competency.

Why is it important for you to know how to evaluate Web resources?

First, as with the basic research skills, understanding the Web and how to evaluate web site information is a skill that you can (and should) apply to all the research you do there.

Second, in learning how to evaluate Web resources/information, you will be able to find the BEST Web resources/information for your research.

Third, because you will be learning how the Web works, the types of information located there, and how to evaluate what you find, you will be doing research in a better, more effective way.

Fourth, these skills will be tested when you take the Web Evaluation Quiz as part of the Freshman English Composition course.
