Endnote

This guide will lead you through the process of downloading, installing, and setting up Endnote on your computer.

Downloading and Installation

1. Login on the My.U portal.



 

 

 

2. Click on the “Library” tab.



 

 

 

3. Scroll down to the “Research Tools and Assistance” box.

4. Click on the “EndNote” tab.




 

5. Read the information about software compatibility with other bibliographic software.

    Click on the “PC” download link.



6. A window will pop up requesting your username and password.

 

 

    Enter your university username and password, and click "OK."



 

 

7. Make sure “Save File” is selected and that you know where the file will download.

    Click “OK.”




 

 

8. The file will download and you will see the “ENX3Inst” folder.

    Double click on this icon to open the folder.




 

 

9. A new folder window will open with the zipped contents of the file.

      Click on “Extract All Files.”




 

 

10. A new window will open.

     Click on “Next.”




 

 

11. A new window will open.

     Click on “Next.”


 

 

 

12. Make sure that the “Show extracted files when complete” box is checked.

     Click on "Finish."

 


 

 

 

13. A new folder will open with the extracted files (It looks very similar to the previous folder).

     Double click on the “ENX3Inst” icon to start the installation process.



 

 

 

14. There are a series of steps that follow for the installation.

      The appropriate responses are below each image.


Click “Next.”


Read the agreement and accept the license by clicking “Accept.”


Click “Next.”

Make sure “Typical” is selected and click “Next.”



Make sure that “C:\Program Files\EndNote X3\” is the default folder and click “Next.”



If you want Endnote as your default citation manager, make sure the box is selected and click “Next.”



Click “Next” to begin the installation.



An Installation status window will display.  Just be patient during this step.



Click “Finish” to finalize the installation.



 

 

15. Click on the Start button and select “All Programs.”

     You should see an “Endnote” folder in the list.

     Click on that folder to access the program.

    


 


 

 

You have successfully downloaded and installed EndNote X3 on your computer.
