SPECIFICATIONS 
All work must be original and not previously displayed in a Bound and Unbound exhibition. There is no restriction on when the work was created. The cases in which Bound and Unbound VIII will be displayed are 80” tall (top to bottom), 28 ½” wide (side to side), and 8 ½” deep (front to back). Please only submit items that will fit these display dimensions. The University Libraries reserves the right to refuse work difficult to exhibit due to size, weight, or presentation.  

SUBMISSION 
Entry is open to all. Entry is free. Artists may submit up to three works for consideration. Submit entries at https://libguides.usd.edu/BU8, with one image per piece. Images should not be greater than 3MB each.
 
ACCEPTANCE
Juror notifications of acceptance will be sent by email April 7, 2025.
 
LIABILITY
The University Libraries, on behalf of the University of South Dakota, will make every effort to ensure the safe handling of entries, but does not assume responsibility for damage or loss.
 
REPRODUCTION
The University Libraries, on behalf of the University of South Dakota, reserves the right to reproduce entries for exhibition and publicity purposes to include, but not limited to, print and electronic media, for use on the University Libraries website, and inclusion in both the Digital Library of South Dakota (explore.digitalsd.org) and the Digital Public Library of America (dp.la) with a signed release. 
 
SALE OF WORK
Any inquiries for sale of work will be referred directly to the artist. 
 
DELIVERY OF WORK
Selected work may be hand-delivered to the University Libraries’ Circulation Desk between June 9 and June 27, 2025. Works sent by mail/courier or shipper to the Libraries must include a prepaid return shipping label, or pre-authorized arrangements for return (this includes international pieces). All work must be ready for display. 
 
PICK UP/RETURN OF WORK
Work will be available for pick-up at the circulation desk starting January 12, 2026. Works received by mail/courier or shipper with prepaid labels will be returned in the same fashion, also starting January 12, 2026. Work that is not claimed after 60 days will become the property of the University Libraries, University of South Dakota.
