Linking Directly to Resources; Individual Articles and Records

This guide will explain persistent links in library resources and how to utilize them, such as in a D2L course page.

Creating Persistent Links to Access Medicine

Each piece of content in Access Medicine has a persistent URL, so faculty can link to the content they want to share with their students by copying and pasting the link from their web browser into the course management system.

One can link to a books table contents, a specific chapter, or a specific section within a chapter. Links to specific case files, videos, and images can also be created.

To locate the persistent URL:

1. Navigate to the item you wish to link to and click “Get Citation”

2. A pop-up window will open showing different citation styles and permalink to the resource.

3. Copy and paste the link into the course management system. No need to add the proxy prefix.  It is already included in the permalink.

4. Test the link in your browser and then test it in D2L.
