Apps and Mobile Resources for Health and Medicine: QxMD Read

QxMD Read provides simple, "one touch", full-text access to USD's journal subscriptions that would normally be located in PubMed.

To Install:

1. Download the Read by QxMD app from your favorite app store (Google Play Store assigned by  or Apple App Store assigned by ).
2. Create a Medscape Network Account or sign in if you already have one.
3. Click on the tools/settings option menu in the top left corner. It looks like a sprocket. 
4. Choose Institutional Access.
5. Select add in the top right corner to add an institution.
6. Tap the magnify glass search icon in the top right corner and type University of South Dakota or you can scroll to find it on the list.
7. Tap on University of South Dakota and select your login preference, automatic or manual. Automatic will store credentials on your device. Manual will require log-in when you want to view the full text of an article.
8. Enter your full USD credentials and click the checkmark in the upper right-hand corner (Note - You will need to Duo authenticate - only once if you choose automatic log-in).

The App allows users to:

• Curate your own article collections based on your profession. specialization, or area of interest. Personalized lists and recommendations can be made based off of the articles users like and share.
• Users may select specific journals to follow and are notified when new content is added. Journal follow preferences can be edited at any time.
• Save and share collections or follow other members' collections.
• Search for articles by PMID, by keywords, or even use more advanced search techniques such as Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT), truncation, and phrase searching with quotations marks.
• Save pdfs to be read offline, annotate, highlight, or share with others.
