PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard.
Check it out: http://www.postsecret.com/
On November 14, 2012, there will be a "PostSecret Live" with Frank Warren at Aalfs Auditorium, sponsored by USD Student Services. Check out their Facebook page!
The University Libraries is hosting their own version of PostSecret in an art exhibit called: "PostSecret@USD" during the fall 2012 semester.
How do I submit my postcard to PostSecret@USD?
1. Send it online! Attach an an image file or scan of your postcard.
2. Drop off your postcard in the PostSecret@USD dropbox in the lobby of the Libraries or across from the MUC Info desk.
3. Send it in the mail to the University Libraries.
Stay tuned for more info about the Libraries' "PostSecret@USD" exhibit!
The two main goals for the University Libraries PostSecret@USD community art project are:
As Warren himself has described, the process of putting one’s secret to paper is “therapeutic”. Additionally, after seeing other secrets, community members may see that there are others whose secrets are very much like their own and feel less like they are the only one who has a particular secret or issue.
Unfortunately, we cannot give postcards back to people that have submitted them. Because the secrets are sent in anonymously, we have no way of knowing the author/illustrator of a given postcard. Therefore, all postcards become property of the University Libraries PostSecret@USD community art project after being submitted.
*Please keep your posts "PG" because your secret/s may be posted in the Libraries' 2nd floor exhibition cases. So, yes! Kids and Grandparents will see these.
*FYI, this art exhibit which will be on display in the Libraries fall 2012 is not affiliated with PostSecret.com
