What is the Affordable Care Act?

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a new law that requires everyone to have health insurance by March 2014. 

  • There are new health insurance options for the uninsured to choose from starting October, 1 2013 via the Health Insurance Marketplace

Important Health Insurance Marketplace dates

You can generally buy Marketplace health insurance only during the annual Open Enrollment period. Upcoming dates to know:

  • January 1, 2020: Coverage begins for 2020 plans
  • December 15, 2019: 2020 Enrollment ends
  • November 1, 2019: Open Enrollment starts for 2020 coverage
