This guide is for USD SSOM and School of Health Sciences faculty (including clinical faculty), staff, and students. Other Wegner Partners should contact their IT departments for inquiries about availability and access to EndNote. SDSU users can visit the EndNote LibGuide provided by the Hilton Briggs Library.
You can easily import references you find in USD provided databases or you can import references manually.
You reference(s) from PubMed are now in your EndNote Library.
You reference(s) from CINAHL are now in your EndNote Library.
5. Click Choose, next to the Import File box, and navigate to your downloaded file. Select the file and open it.
6. From the Import Option: pull-down menu and select Reference Manager (RIS). Click Import.
You reference(s) from Cochrane Library are now in your EndNote Library.

6. From the Import Option: pull-down menu and select Joanna Briggs Inst EBP (OvidSP). Click Import.
*Note – if the Joanna Briggs Inst EBP option is not an available choice, find it by selecting Other Filters and browse to select.
You reference(s) from JBI are now in your EndNote Library.
4. Click Choose, next to the Import File box, and navigate to your downloaded file. Select the file and open it.
5. From the Import Option: pull-down menu and select Web of Science Core Collection (Clarivate). Click Import.
*Note – if the Web of Science Core Collection option is not an available choice, find it by selecting Other Filters and browse to select.
You reference(s) from Web of Science are now in your EndNote Library.
To import references from Google Scholar into an EndNote desktop library, you need to configure Google Scholar first to make the EndNote option available in the search results.
4. In EndNote (make sure your correct library is open), select File >> Import >> File.
5. Select Choose to find your downloaded file. In Import Option, select EndNote Import. Click Import.
NOTE: Using this method, you can export only one reference at a time. Not all of the information in the reference can be exported, such as keywords and abstracts. Therefore, if a reference is available in PubMed or another database, it will be better to export the reference from one of those resources.
NOTE: You must be signed into a Google account to export batch records.
To manually add a reference to your library, you can do one of the following commands:
1. Go to Reference and select New Reference
2. CTRL + N
3. Click on the New Reference Icon
Once your new reference form has opened, select your reference type and fill in the known fields.
