Physical Reserves at the Circulation Desk

Physical Reserves
To check an item out from Physical Reserves, present the desk attendant with your USD ID and the call number of the material. Materials placed on Physical Reserve can be identified by using the library’s online catalog or through use of the Reserve binder (red three ring notebook) located at the Circulation Desk. Each reserve item is identified by a call number which is needed for the Circulation staff to retrieve it.

When using reserve items in the library, please keep in mind that:

  • Reserve items need to be used by a large number of people in a short period of time.
  • To make the limited number of items available to as many people as possible, all reserve items have restricted loan periods and overdue fines of $0.25 per hour.
  • Reserve items may not be put on hold, recalled, or renewed.
  • The borrower is responsible for returning reserve materials to the Circulation desk within the time frame of the loan.

Disability Services

If you are a person with a disability and desire any assistive device, service or other accommodation to utilize Course Reserves materials, please contact Disability Services by phone at (605) 677-6389 or via email at disabilityservices@usd.edu.
