Adding Content from the LOR

When Course Reserves staff must scan and upload content to D2L, we will place it in the Learning Object Repository (LOR). Instructors must then make the content in the LOR available in their course module.

Add Content from LOR to Course Content

  1. Open your course and click on CONTENT from the black navigation bar towards the top of the screen.

  2. Highlight Table of Contents in the list on the left of the screen so it turns light blue. Select Import/Export at the top center of the screen below the black menu bar.

  3. From within a module, click the New button. Now you'll see the Add Object from LOR.

  4. Click the Start button at the bottom of the page.

  5. Search for your document in the USD Reserves; Advanced Search works best. Uncheck SDBOR, SDSU IDS, SDSU, and USD Nursing. It is helpful to select TYPE: Topic. Search using your last name, course number, or title of the object.

  6. Select the object you want to link to by clicking the circle to the left of the document's name (a detailed description can be seen by clicking on the item name).

  7. Click Next.

  8. Select your setting:
    • Create a Dynamic Link to object from Content
    • Choosing a Dynamic Link will always take you to the newest version of the learning object or asset, regardless of what version existed when the link was created.

  9. Click Next.

  10. From the dropdown box, select the module you want to add the document to. If you want to create a new module, select Add Module.

  11. Click Create Topic.

Set Restrictions for When a Document Will Be Available to Users

After adding a document to your course, click the edit icon to the right of the document you want to set restrictions on. You can also set restrictions on an entire module if you wish by clicking the edit icon to the right of the module name.

  1. Click the drop down menu at the end of the topic/module.

  2. Select Edit Properties

  3. Select Add dates and restrictions...

  4. Once dates have been entered, click Update at the bottom of the screen.
