Helpful Hint: Create libraries customized to specific projects you are working on, so you are only working with citations you need.
Creating and Naming a Library
- A dialogue box will appear and you will need to decide where you would like your library to be stored on your computer. The default is in My Documents.
- Also, you will need to name your library.
Keep it simple, and let it delineate what projects or themes you are going to be working on within it.

Compressing an EndNote Library
Save your complete library (the filename.enl file as well as its associated .DATA folder and all of its contents) to a single compressed filename.enlx file in order to easily back up your library or send a copy to a colleague. Later, restore (unzip) the compressed library with EndNote.
Note: EndNote libraries larger than 4 gigabytes (GB) or 65,535 files (64 K) cannot be compressed with EndNote’s Compressed Library commands.
