Citing Journal Articles

The References to Journal Articles guide begins on page 70.

Format is as follows:

Author AA, Author BB, Author CC. Title of article: lower case letter for subtitle. Abbreviated Title of Journal. Year;Volume(Issue):pages or e-Locator. Date accessed [if using URL]. DOI or URL

 

Notes:

If six or fewer authors, list all authors. If more than six authors, list the first three followed by "et al."

Abbreviated journal titles can be found in the NLM Catalog.

DOIs and URLs should not be hyperlinked.
