With support from the Sanford School of Medicine’s Ethics and Humanities faculty and the Sanford DeGroot Center for Bioethics, Humanities, and the Healing Arts, Wegner Health Sciences Library will launch a Health Humanities book and speaker series this fall titled, “Speaking of Health.” This series is funded in part by a grant from the South Dakota Humanities Council.
Our first author and speaker, Mara Buchbinder, will speak at Wegner Library on September 15th at 6:00 PM in the Mary D. Nettleman Classroom or you can livestream it at https://youtu.be/OYn_9tu3QNc.
Dr. Buchbinder is a Professor of Social Medicine and core faculty in the Center for Bioethics at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She is the author of three books and the editor of three more, including the two-volume series, The Social Medicine Reader (Duke University Press). She will be speaking about her most recent book, Scripting Death: Stories of Assisted Dying in America (2021).
